Braves’ Stibor in the lead after Day 1 in 4A State Golf Championship

Star Valley’s Charlie Stibor holds a one stroke lead over two other players after shooting an opening day 74 on Cedar Creek Golf Course Friday.

Cheyenne Central leads the pack for the boys’ scores after day one, carding an impressive 312 at the end of the day. Star Valley sits fifth with a 341. Other scores for the Braves included a 90 for Allen Simpson, a 92 for both Skyler Heiner and Chantry Hansen and a 93 for sophomore Marshall Mendenhall.

The Lady Braves will be looking to make up some ground in day two on their home course, sitting in eighth place after the initial round. The ladies of Campbell County (Gillette) lead the way after day one, with a scorching team round of 276. Kelsey Pamalzy of Green River leads the individual scores with a opening day 85.

Shanae Jackson led the way for the Lady Braves, finishing with a 106, while Kelsea Gardner recovered from a tough opening nine to card a 116.

107 golfers from across the Cowboy State will work to beat some impending weather patterns on Saturday, as the officials and coaches have opted for a 9 a.m. “shotgun” start.
