Broken-hearted Broncs: Braves notch thrilling 31-30 win in Cody
By Dahl E. Llama on Sep 15, 2007 in Sports
It’s hard to imagine an uglier half than the first two quarters for Star Valley in Cody Friday night.
With a lost fumble, a botched punt attempt and over 100 yards in penalties, there wasn’t much going right for the Crimson and Gold
Star Valley trailed by as much as 18-0 in the first half, and 24-7 to begin the fourth quarter, before staging a furious rally to take a 31-24 lead with under two minutes remaining. The Broncs answered with a gutty effort of their own to score a final touchdown and close the gap to 31-30. However, with four previous PAT attempts coming up empty, Cody chose to go for two on a fake kick, only to have it snuffed out by Star Valley in the closing moments.
The game of Jekyll and Hyde was a roller-coaster event, but the Braves will take the win nevetheless. Star Valley rolled up over 200 yards rushing in the second half alone in the victory.
While special teams miscues cost Cody at least five points, Jordan Abrams was perfect, going four of four on PATs and also hitting on a 32-yard field goal. The Braves’ signal caller also accounted for a rushing and a passing touchdown, while Kurtis Suloff returned an interception for a touchdown late in the fourth.

Way to go Braves and coaches! Great win in Cody! We cheer for you from Chengdu, China. Senor y Senora Kdell and Cheryl Bagley
You know, Llama, I wouldn’t be reading or paying attention to SVHS sports if it wasn’t for you.
Great win for the braves! Gutty effort by the boys and the staff. Congrats Dale, hopefully this week will be spent coaching kids up, not defending your program!
Are the Borncs from Jackson for real?? 2-0 in the west, both wins on the road?? what do ya’ll think?
Nice work Llama!
Great win Braves! I am going to predict right now another victory in 2 weeks when the Braves play Lander.
