This is a “Show Me” week in Wyoming 4A and conference titles may be ultimately decided by Friday’s outcomes.

The Braves stopped a four game losing streak which dated back to last season, and with over 200 yards on the ground in the second half, the teams remaining on the Star Valley schedule may want to take note. In doing some quick math, the offensive line members who did this, average 227 pounds. Does that in itself guarantee success? Certainly not. But if this crew decides, much like they did in the second half in Cody, that they want to impose their will, they will be a load to stop.

Week 4 Forecasts from the Dahl E. Llama: Last Week: (4-0) YTD: (16-4)(.800)

Cody Broncs (1-2) @ Sheridan Broncs (2-1) - Cody is one of those teams that other squads may start overlooking because of a couple of close losses. An overtime defeat to Hardin, Mont., and a one-point stomach punch by the Braves hardly equates to a panic session. That being said, Sheridan has looked mighty tough in Don Julian’s first year returning to the sidelines, and the real question may eventually be: Will Cody be able to bounce back mentally if they fall to 1-3? I think Sheridan wins this game on their home turf and we find out. Llama says - (Sheridan) Broncs - 27-14.

Lander Tigers (0-3) @ Jackson Broncs (3-0) - Despite a winless record and a twelve game losing streak, the Tigers are not the pushovers they were a year ago on the scoreboard. This is a squad that defensively has held their own with Worland and Cody, at least for a half. If the Tiger offense can give their tired defense a rest, they are capable I believe. Jackson on the other hand, showed they know how to win an ugly, defensive battle, and they will have the target on their backs until proven otherwise. Being the top team isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be, especially in week four. This could wind up being a trap game with Lander, but with a team-starved crowd on hand in Jackson after two weeks on the road, the Broncs should pull this off readily if they’re focused. Llama says - Broncs - 29-7.

Worland Warriors (3-0) @ Powell Panthers (2-1) - Will the real Warriors please stand up? That’s the whole premise of this game in my opinion. With a perceived weak schedule in the first three weeks, just like the last two seasons, Worland has a chance to really make a statement with a win in Powell. The Panthers meanwhile, shouldn’t be feeling bad, after all, they were within one score last week, and they get to sleep in their own beds this week. I look for a tough game for the first half before Powell protects the home field. Llama says - Panthers - 24-14.

Douglas Bearcats (1-2) @ Buffalo Bison (3-0) - After looking mighty slick in week one, the bandwagon is probably about empty for the Bearcats as they head into the Bison Bowl. Douglas was shutout last week, and with a run-oriented squad on their home field this week to contend with, the ‘Cats need to figure out something fast. The problem to me is this: When a team with a strong running game like Buffalo, meets a team with a strong passing game like Douglas, I always feel like the running team has the advantage. As Coach Darrell Royal said in his days at Texas, “Three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad.” Take away the extra possessions from the passing team, and you get my drift. Look for the Bison running game to control the tempo of this game. Llama says - Bison - 29-17.

Pinedale Wranglers (1-2) @ Rawlins Outlaws (0-3) - Yet another new coaching staff is finding out exactly how hard it’s been lately to get a winning team in Carbon County. Defensively, I feel like these two teams are pretty close, but Pinedale has shown an ability to at least put the ball in the endzone. I like the Wranglers in a close, low-scoring affair. Llama says - Wranglers - 13-7

Torrington Trailblazers (0-3) @ Wheatland Bulldogs (2-1) - Wheatland has a chance to really put themselves in the #2 spot in the East with a win this weekend, and I think their defense has the ability to do it. Austin Wisroth is a good passer, but any team that cant run the ball effectively when they need to, whether they be in high school, college or the pros, is likely to struggle in the red zone. Look for Wheatland to perhaps give up a big play or two, but they win this one handily. Llama says - Bulldogs - 22-7.

The Braves travel out of state to Idaho to take on the wedge-blocking team from Marsh Valley. Star Valley, once the scourge of the potato-pickers, is looking to break a drought from our neighbors to the West, having not won a ball game with an Idaho squad since 2002. I think this is the week the Braves get it done on the road in Armino, Idaho. Llama says - Braves - 24-14.
