Alpine council approves liquor license transfer and work continues on ball field

The Alpine Town Council gave initial approval to the transfer of a liquor license Tuesday night and moved forward with plans to extend a power line to the new community ball field.
The council and mayor approved the transfer of the Bull Moose Liquor License to Caddis, LLC, pending final approval of the sale of the business, along with state approval of the corporation.
In other news handled by the mayor and council at the Oct. 16 meeting:
• The town council will work with Lower Valley Energy on a proposal to use capital credits to assist with construction of an underground power line that will serve the new community ball field.
A motion was passed by the council allowing the town to cash in the necessary amount of credits to help fund the project. Alpine currently has $12,000 available in the LV&E patronage credit program.
Earlier, the town of Alpine and the Alpine American Legion came together on a bleacher project for the ball field.
In the meantime, the town has applied for a $250,000 grant to help finish the field.
Mayor Victoria DeCora reported earlier that the town had applied for assistance from the Daniels Fund, based in Denver, Colorado.
Town officials, along with the American Legion, hope the new ball field will bring unity to the the town, while providing a place for youth to enjoy outdoor activities.

• The council agreed to have Irish Properties proceed with plans for a new Bank of Alpine building on the corner of Greys River Road and U.S. 89.
Approval was granted on the condition that the company submit the building plan to the town with an engineer’s approval stamp.
• The open town council seat is expected to be filled in November. The town council is accepting applications for the position. Former councilman Tom Turner resigned due to health reasons.
• The town accepted the final work report on paving of Riverview Drive in the Riverview Meadows Subdivision.
