SV Ranch looks to establish animal ordinance.
The Town of Star Valley Ranch is beginning the process of establishing an animal ordinance for the town. The council hopes to have such an ordinance ready for its first ready by January 2008.
“The town council is working on an ordinance that will effect the owners of animals in our community,” said Councilman Jim Wheeler. “This is a very difficult ordinance to write because there are so many ideas and possibilities of what should and should not be put into such a document.”
The town’s first step in the process will be to review the animal ordinances that exist in the other Star Valley communities.
Step two will be to hold public meetings.
“We will have some special meeting times to get suggestions for what town residents would like to have as an ordinance,” said Wheeler. “There will be three readings of this ordinance before it will become official and final.”
According to SV Ranch Mayor Boyd Siddoway, animals are a “serious issue on the Ranch.”
“We are not the only ones, however,” Siddoway said. “This is a problem that is valley wide.
