Laval Larson and Doc Dana retire.
After 25 years with the County Road and Bridge Department, Laval Larson is saying goodbye. Doc Dana, who has been with the department for the last 17 years, is also retiring.
“Road and Bridge that services in the county that not to many people really thing about,” said Commissioner Tammie Archibald. “But the departments really do a great service for county residents.”
In Lincoln County the Road and Bridge is divided into two separate departments. The North Lincoln County Road and Bridge Department has shops in Thayne, Afton and Cokeville. The South Lincoln County Road and Bridge Department has shops in Kemmerer at the Kemmerer Landfill and in LaBarge.
The departments have separate budgets and operate as two distinct departments.
“Having two departments is necessary because really we are dealing with two different worlds in terms of roads between North Lincoln County and South Lincoln County,” said Archibald. “The way the roads are used is different. The weather is different. The types of equipment needed to maintain the roads is different.”
Larson started out his career with Lincoln County as a driver and worked his way up to the supervisor’s position.
Dana also worked his way up to the position of supervisor.
“Our road and bridge crews work long hours and put their lives on the line so that we can have safe roads,” said Archibald. “We appreciate that.”
Mark Luthi has been named as a new Road and Bridge Supervisor for North Lincoln County, with Hal Hepworth and second in command. Margi Gergen has also been named as a Road and Bridge Supervisor for South Lincoln County.
