Thayne searches for a new town councilman,

The town of Thayne prepares to replace a member of the town council, while hearing requests for new additions to the community’s infrastructure.
The town acknowledged the resignation of councilman Don Snider at the October 10 meeting. Snider will be traveling more and uable to attend all of the meetings. The council agreed to advertise the opening and select a replacement that will fill the remaining three years of Snider’s term.
A request to allow a proposed 40-acre development to connect to water and sewer was considered at the same meeting.
Ryan Hurd asked the council for the new connections. Hurd  reported that he had wanted to annex into the community, however the land is not contiguous to existing town property.
The mayor and council asked the developer to submit an engineering study that would include the number of new homes on the property located east of Thayne on Dana Street.
In other news related to the Thayne Council:
• A new subdivision prepared by Bret Merica includes new infrastructure for five lots. The new infrastructure will be donated back to the town and the water and sewer connection fees will be waived for the donation.
• The town continues to work with Single Edge on a project that would include locating a new data center in Thayne. The mayor and council will be meeting with company representatives in October. A Wyoming Business Ready Grant will be applied for as part of the project.
• In preparation for opening a second entrance into the Thayne Post Office, the town will apply to Lower Valley Energy for the use of patronage capital to move existing power lines underground.
• Increased police patrols will be conducted by the elementary school to help slow traffic in the area.
• The town will explore the option of changing water rates to accommodate larger pipe sizes.
• A request by Jason Astle for a small, part-time, meat cutting operation in a residential zone will be considered following notification of adjoining property owners.
• The council agreed to allow a permit for farmer’s market if the event was coordinated through just one individual.
• An old Thayne ambulance will be offered as a donation to any Wyoming community that may not be able to afford an emergency response vehicle.
• The town of Thayne will help sponsor and award prizes at a U.S. Constitution Assembly Oct. 19 in the Holdaway Elementary School.
Under Planning and Zoning, expansion was approved for Pines Bar, pending fire marshal approval and a new sign was approved for Paper Works Plus.
