Lady Braves bitten by Snake River 31-29
By Dahl E. Llama on Nov 29, 2007 in Sports
In a game of tough defense and low shooting percentages, it ultimately came down to the free throw line
The Lady Braves and 1st Year Head Coach, Jason Cazier, saw glimpses of what may be yet to come for Star Valley. The gals in gold saw their offense function in bursts while working through some dry spells in a close, 31-29 loss to visiting Snake River. Carolee Saunders led all scorers with ten points and collected five steals, while Danette Warren and Sage Draney each chipped in six points each. In the end, the Lady Braves were unable to capitalize from the free-throw line, leading 27-24 late in the fourth quarter. As a team, Star Valley shot 3 for 10 from the charity stripe while the Lady Panthers went 5 for 8.
While the team would like to be celebrating a win this evening, several players contributed and there were definitely flashes of what Cazier and the team expects.
In other action at SVHS, the freshman squad defeated Snake River, 36-24, while the junior varsity was victorious in a defensive struggle, 19-15.
