New faces of Braves basketball on display to open practice

Since Todd Dixon has arrived to teach chemistry and coach basketball at SVHS, he’s seen a lot of the Cowboy State.
From pre-season junior varsity football, to volleyball, to long-distance games in Buffalo and Cody to the school play and amateur statistician, he’s made himself at home far from Wautauga High School in Boone, North Carolina, where he coached a year ago.
Along with a new set of coaches, (Dave Moore at the junior varsity and Andy Taylor at the Sophomore), Dixon most definitely has a philosophy for his opponents this season.
“From the beginning of the game to the end of the game, we’re going to fight you,” said Dixon. “When they get back in their locker room they’re going to know that they just played the Braves.”
Ben Hale, who will coach the freshman team for the fourth season is the lone holdover from the previous staff, which included Homer Bennett and Rob Erickson.
