Unofficial results list 1,980 in favor of the tax and 1,631 against.
The long and short of the one percent election results are that Star Valley voted against the increase and the rest of the county voted in favor of the penny tax.
As of Tuesday evening, 1,016 voters outside of Star Valley had voted in favor of the measure and 299 had voted against it. In Star Valley, however, the numbers were 965 votes in favor of the one percent and 1,332 opposed.
Only two Star Valley towns had more support for the measure than opposition. Alpine had 68 votes in favor and 51 votes against the tax. Star Valley Ranch had 312 votes in favor and 119 votes against the increase.
The unofficial tallies for the one percent sales tax show that a total of 1,980 voters supported the tax in Lincoln County while 1,631 voters did not. While these results are still unofficial, it appears that the one percent optional sales tax will go into effect in Lincoln County as of July 1, 2008.
