State board of education to meet

The Wyoming State Board of Education will meet on February 19 and 20 in the Administration Building 3rd Floor Training Center at Laramie County School District 1.
On February 19, the board will hold a study session from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The members will visit with Gov. Dave Freudenthal. They will also discuss the rules and regulations for teacher evaluation, review the Fremont County 21 redistricting request, receive an overview of the Wyoming Supreme Court decision on the school finance model and review, as the State Board of Vocational Education, the Perkins Five Year Plan for Wyoming.
The board will hold its regular business meeting on February 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During the meeting, the members will focus on standards as well as receive information on other items such as body of evidence, common core of skills and knowledge, and the Reading First Initiative. Items the board will be taking action on include the Fremont County School District 21 redistricting proposal, adopting a plan for the review of the content standards and electing its slate of officers for the upcoming 2008-2009 meeting year.
The State Board of Vocational Education will convene at 1:45 p.m. on February 20. At this time the members will take action on the Perkins Five Year Plan for the State.
