Wyoming Army National Guard Soldiers ordered to mobilize

The Wyoming Army National Guard is sending 16 Soldiers to serve as
an Embedded Training Team for the Afghanistan National Army.

The team is made up of Soldiers from the Wyoming Army National Guard.

The Soldiers will report to Cheyenne on May 27. Their pre-deployment
training will be at Fort Riley, Kan., from there they will deploy to
Afghanistan to serve as trainers and mentors for senior Afghan army
officials.

“These Soldiers volunteered to deploy to train the Afghanistan force in order
to foster a similar environment of freedom and liberty that we hold as rights
as American citizens,” Maj. Shane Crofts, Wyoming Army National Guard mobilization officer said.

The 16 Soldiers mobilized will be on federal active duty orders for 400 days.
The period of active duty can be extended, based on the U.S. Army’s
requirements.
The Soldiers are from Cheyenne, Laramie, Lingle, Gillette, Evanston and Colorado, Utah and Nebraska.

This is the third Embedded Training Team deployed from the Wyoming Army
National Guard to Afghanistan. The first deployed in 2005, the second
deployed in April 2007 and is expected to return later this Spring.
