Eye of the Tigers: Rock Springs edges shorthanded Lady Braves 2-0

There are a lot of things to appreciate about Spring Break. Shorthanded teams aren’t one of them.Rock Springs was the aggressor from the get go, and wound up being the beneficiaries of an own goal off a corner kick from Corinna Mizel. Mizel’s attempt was swatted into the net by the Star Valley keeper in the 13th minute.
In the 22nd minute, Rock Springs’ Karen Duncan scored the game’s only other goal on a missle from the left side to put the match at 2-0.
The Lady Braves struggled to get quality shots on goal against a stingy Tiger defense and the missing players certainly didn’t help the situation.
In the junior varsity match, the Lady Braves made good on the evening, nipping the visitors, 4-3 due in large part to a hat trick from sophomore Alisa Gimlin. Fellow sophomore Courtney Cox scored the other goal in the winning effort.
Meanwhile on the road in Rock Springs, the Braves junior varsity was doubled up in a very offensive affair, as Rock Springs’ JV won 10-5.
