CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Wyoming Attorney General Bruce Salzburg today joined attorneys for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and other parties to the gray wolf lawsuit on a conference call to preliminarily discuss the
next step in the litigation.
Participants included attorneys for the Fish and Wildlife Service; the States of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming; and several of the non-governmental entities who have intervened on behalf of the Service.
Following the conference call, Attorney General Salzburg issued the following statement:
“Consideration was given to an immediate appeal of the preliminary injunction to the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, or accepting the preliminary injunction and proceeding to a hearing on
the merits of the case, following the filing of the full administrative record by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
The United States Department of the Interior, which includes the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, has not reached a decision whether to recommend an appeal of the preliminary injunction, or to proceed to a
final hearing on the merits of the case. Therefore, while each of the participants expressed its views regarding the pros and cons of either path, no final decision was made.”
