Friday Sports Stir: Season underway edition

After traveling to the Cokeville, the volleyball excitement is pretty high, so this week calls for a volleyball question from the Stir.
It’s a year where the ladies have a lot of ability and not a lot of experience. But if their first match was any indication, they also have little fear. If you’ve never watched or cheered for the Lady Braves, I encourage you to plan on it in a couple of weeks when they get home. They got off on the right foot, knocking off Gillette Friday morning.
So, with that in mind, let’s spike a volleyball question at you from deep in the annals of SVHS history.
In what year did the Lady Braves first win the state championship?
Bonus: Who was the coach?
Cliff Clavin Bonus: Who did they defeat?

I think they won one in 1981. They had a great year that year in all of there sports ventures. I don’t know if this is correct but its the earliest one I can recall. GO BRAVES!!!

Clarification on my guess; It was the class of 81 that I remember taking state so it would have actually been in 1980

I will say in 1982, just a guess and I will say that it was Anita Harmon and they beat Wheatland.

The first state vb title was in 1978
Coach was Jerry Spackman
SV defeated Jackson.
