Town of Star Valley Ranch to move forward with grants

The Town of Star Valley Ranch passed a resolution in favor of moving forward with the silo and barn project. The decision was made after a public hearing was held in which the majority of attendees expressed approval of seeking grant funds for the project.
According to Mayor Boyd Siddoway, the town can act as a sponsor on the project to get a Community Development Block Grant. The grant would be used to pay for a structural study on the barn and silo. The study would determine the structural soundness of the building and provide cost estimates for renovation and repair.
While the town would act as the sponsor, it will not pay any funds toward the project.
“The Wyoming Business Council has funds available for planning grants up to $25,000,” said Siddoway. “There is a match of $8,333 which the association will pay if we get this grant.”
According to David Ward, chairman of the SVRA, getting a grant to help pay for a structural study will mean the SVRA could save over $12,000 as the organization was planned to have a study done on the facilities, anyway.
“The intent of this grant is to get a structural survey as well as cost estimates to bring the barn and silo into ADA compliance,” said Siddoway. “It is about getting information so that a good decision can be made in regards to what to do with those facilities. Right now we have no idea if they are structurally sound or how much renovations and those types of things will cost. Once we have that information, then we can make a good decision. This grant and this study will help provide that information.”
