Alpine Sewer Collection and Waste Water Treatment moving forward

The Alpine Town Council received a favorable financial report on the Alpine Sewer Collection System Project and the Waste Water Treatment Plant this week during their regular meeting.

Leon Kjellgren, the engineer overseeing the collection system, presented the financial outlook for the project.

According to Kjellgren, the preliminary engineering report cost $45,373. The design for the collection system cost $182,697. Both of those projects have been completed.

The construction engineering of phase one of the project cost $291,400 and is ongoing. The construction itself is estimated to cost $2.1 million and is ongoing.

Water system repair inventory, supplies set aside in the event that something in the water system breaks and needs repair or for locating pipelines was listed at a total of $14,038.

Additional costs associated with the project include power to the lift station at $5,000 and constructing a building over the lift station at $15,000. Whether or not the lift station building will be constructed has not been officially decided by the town.

According to Kjellgren, the estimated total cost for the collection system project is $2,653,508. The state has committed $3,034,230 in grant funds and $1,011,410 in state loan funds, bringing the total amount of state funds for the project to $4,045,640.
