Lady Braves devoured by the Wolf Pack

The Lady Braves are still looking for their first conference victory this season and while there were some promising aspects of their game with the Green River Lady Wolves, the evening belonged to the Green & White.
The Wolves knocked off Star Valley in Afton 3-0 with scores of 20-25, 5-25 & 21-25. To add insult to injury, 5′ 9″ junior Kortnie Thomas suffered an ankle sprain in game three after stepping on the foot of a Green River player while both teams jostled at the net.
Game one was very typical for this season thus far for Star Valley, with their opponent building a modest but quick lead right out of the gates. Green River led by at least four points for the vast majority of the game while Star Valley scrapped to keep it close. After pulling to within one at 19-20, it was a mental error that gave side out to the Wolves as they finished it off, 20-25.
Game two is likely one that Coach Brandy Taylor will burn in the film room. The gals in gold appeared half asleep as point after point found an empty floor due to Star Valley miscommunication. The 5-25 final fits the bill .
Game three started out very promising as Star Valley built a 7-3 lead, and seizing the momentum back from a Wolves team that looked unbeatable in game two. However, after the Thomas injury, Green River went on a 15-4 run to compile a lead that they would not relinquish.
The Lady Braves have been swept 3-0 in four of their five conference matches thus far.
The ladies will be participating in the Bonneville Tourney this weekend before taking a much deserved break of roughly ten days. It’s a break that Coach Taylor and the Lady Braves will be counting on to recharge their batteries before the meat of the conference road schedule hits.
Star Valley’s last remaining home contest will take place October 16, against the Evanston Red Devils.
