Weekend Sports Wrap-up

The SVHS X-C Teams did well in the huge Orem Kiwanis Invitational held on the campus held on the UVU campus, with the Lady Braves notching an impressive third place.
All five varsity runners for the ladies finished between 13th and 25th place, as Brittney, Brooke and Tiffany Nethercott joined Alicia Inskeep for top-20 finishes.
On the boy’s side, Jason Livingston and Cody Brough both finished in the top ten, with Livingston claiming 7th overal and Brough finishing 10th.
On the gridiron, it wasn’t nearly so sunny as the Braves were held out of the end zone for the first time this season in a 28-2 drubbing at the hands of Powell. The offense turned the ball over four times and generally struggled against a stingy Panther defense.
With a (1-4) record and trips to Lander and Evanston before a regular season finale in Afton with Worland, the next three games will determine whether the Braves miss the playoffs for the first time since 2004.
The Lady Braves will be playing in Green River this Wednesday after an extended break.
