Osmond Boil Order Recinded

The Osmond water is safe to drink, and it always was, according to recent reports.

On November 4 of last week, a positive test from a sample coming from the Osmond Pipeline was determined to contain e-coli.  Today, officials have stated that the sample which triggered a boil order in the area was misread and has been classified a false positive test.

According to Ron Bassett, chief operator of the Osmond Pipeline, any number of minute contaminants could have contributed to the false positive.  The sample could also have been misread.  Bassett went on to say the further testing will be done that is required by the EPA.  Those tests are ongoing.  At the present time, there is no danger of e-coli.  Schools and those on the system have either been notified or are in the process of being notified.

Lincoln County Public Health called for a boil order on November 5, while the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) called for an order on November 7.
