When slam dunk champion, Mark Hobbs, was bringing down his tomahawk to regain the lead for Salmon, there was likely a split second of euphoria for the Salmon faithful.  It was the last happy second of the game for the Idaho squad.

With Star Valley having rallied from a 13-point deficit to gain a one-point lead, Hobbs, who had won the slam dunk contest the evening before in the 25-team tournament, had his put-back slam careen off the rim for not just a miss, but his hanging on the rim resulted in a technical foul.  After two Tyler Schwab free throws, the Braves pulled away for a 66-54 win, their second of the tournament.

The Braves (4-3) will be hosting Bear Lake on Saturday evening with a revenge game against Jackson coming up on Tuesday December 30.

As for the Braves grapplers, they’re locked in a three-way tie with host Weber High and South Summit for the lead at the Warrior Duals in Ogden, Utah.
Dakota Dana at 140 pounds, Lynk Nield at 285 pounds and Paul Woodie at 215 pounds are all undefeated at this point in the tourney.  While tiebreakers would have to fall the way of Star Valley for them to win the event title, this is a very positive indication of their direction with a relatively young squad.

Star Valley finished a very close second a year ago at the Warrior Duals to Wasatch High out of Heber.
