The Braves blasted American Falls last year on their home mat, one of the few sour moments in their Idaho 3A championship last season.

In the re-match, it looked as though the Braves were going to roll through the Reservoir Dogs again, jumping out to a 37-0 lead.  However, the visitors were not quite ready to pack it in and came through in a pair of hotly contested matches which swung the momentum in their favor, helping to lead to a respectable final score.

In particular, Dalton Dance trailed by a single point in his match at 140 pounds for the final minute and a half from the down position and was not able to get an escape point as both wrestlers kept finding the out of bounds line.  On two separate occasions the Braves staff felt a point should have been awarded but eventually lost the match, 4-3.

Another tough pill to swallow was Darin Taylor’s match at 152 which he led 9-3 and looked to be in full control before Kody Laggis capitalized on a mistake and pinned Taylor.

Paul Woodie, Casey Wolfley, T.J. Guild and Dakota Dana all won by pinfall for the Braves.

Both squads will be participating in the Tiger Grizz tournament this weekend.  The Tiger Grizz is always a very tough tournament, but it seems this year’s competition will be extremely tough.

The duel with American Falls was the first of three straight high profile home events for SVHS.  Friday night will see top-ranked and undefeated Natrona County invade Afton for the first time since December of 1967.
