25-years ago:
The water content of the snow pack on the Salt River watershed is 133 percent of normal as of April 1.

The Blossoming Homemakers 4-H club of Afton recently elected new officers for the new unit. . . . The club has just completed the cooking unit and is now beginning the “C is for Crocheting” and “Pretty Sitting” units. Leaders are Mrs. Jo Galloway and Mrs. Shirley Gardner, and Mrs. Dale Kennington.

50-years ago:
Royal Jensen, teacher at Star Valley High School, will do advanced study next year at Oregon State College under a special National Science Foundation program grant. . . . Fifty high school science and mathematics teachers from across the country were named to study at Oregon State, one of 16 colleges in the nation picked to start the science teacher training program three years ago.

75-years ago:
Game Commissioner Lester Bagley made a trip up Grays River last weekend. He reports seeing quite a lot of elk, and that they all are doing fine He counted 60 head just across the river from the Gillis ranch. He also reports that 3 head of cattle wintered out in the vicinity of Higbee creek.
Car Price to Raise Soon: Manager E. N. Allred has just been notified by the Chevrolet Car company by wire that cars will take raise from $35 to $50 within the next few days. Anyone placing orders immediately will have advantage of the present prices.

100-years ago:
QUARANTINE NOTICE: The disease known as Lip and Leg Ulceration having appeared in practically all of the counties comprising the Central and Northen District of the state . . . hereby orders that no sheep or bucks shall be trailed or shipped from the Central of Northen districts . . . until the said sheep or bucks are inspected by an inspector of this force and found clean and a permit given by the said inspector. The State Board of Sheep Commissioners.
Small Pox at Fairview: The dancers last Friday night at Afton were startled by the announcement from the rostrum that as there is a case of small pox at Fairview. There will be no public gatherings in that ward until further notice. The scare was more pronounced as there were several people from Fairview among the dancers.
