25-years ago:
The Afton Chamber of Commerce will be sponsoring the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 21, announced chamber president, Peggy Erickson. She said the event will begin at 12 noon at the Afton Town Park with sing-up beginning at 11 a.m.. All children eight years old and younger are welcome to participate. A movie “Once Upon a Time” will be shown at the Ford Theater beginning at 1 p.m. that day, said Mrs. Erickson.
A change which created a seventh ward in the Afton Wyoming LDS Stake, and realignment of boundaries among the existing six wards was announced under the direction of Stake President Larry A. Call in a special Stake Conference held Sunday, April 15, at the stake center in Afton. Citing figures which indicated a 25 percent growth in the stake during the past five and a half years, Pres. H. Steven Erickson described the realignment of the boundaries to create the new Afton Fourth Ward and the changes which would affect the remainder of the wards in the stake. The move more equally distributed membership among the seven wards, he said.

The new sweeper, here operated by Blake Robinson, is a welcome addition to the town’s street department, as the crews are cleaning up the streets after the winter sanding program.
50-years ago:

Eldon R. Erickson has been appointed to the position of principal of the Afton Elementary School for the next school year, according to an announcement released by Supt. Carwin H. Linford. This appointment was made during the regular meeting of the school board Monday evening. Mr. Erickson has served as a teacher and principal in Star Valley schools for the last 23 years. He has been principal of the Holdaway School in Thayne since that school was established in 1956.
75-years ago:
Elementary School Will Hold Full Nine Months: The elementary schools of the two valleys will continue for one month more than had preciously been planned giving us a nine month term. . . . This opportunity will mean much to the schools of the district in view of the absences because of sickness during the past term and the shortened term for the past four years Pupils and teachers alike will feel the benefits fo the extended term.

100-years ago:
Local items: A general change around has been effected this week. The Ed. Hansen family has moved into the Wm. W. Astle house, and Wm. P. Harrison has moved into the house lately occupied by Hansen’s, and Leslie Cole and wife have moved into the Call house.
Lost: About three weeks ago a quilt between the Independent office and my house. Finder please return to J. H . Hale.

Grover news: The basketball team of Grover played with Auburn last Friday night, with a score of 36 to 11 in favor of Auburn.
