Star Valley had four high quality shots either knocked away by Rock Springs’ Tyler Hamilton, or had them bounce off the goal itself. In the end, those missed opportunities cost the Braves in a 2-1 loss on their home field.
Rock Springs scored in the 24th and 36th minute to boast a 2-0 halftime lead, despite a well-played effort by the Braves. Jon Scherbel scored in the 53rd minute with a beautiful header off a great corner kick by sophomore John Strang.
Star Valley had two more quality scoring chances throughout the match, as well as dodging a few bullets from the Tigers’ Gilbert Gonzalez.
The Braves host both Kelly Walsh and Natrona on Friday and Saturday this weekend. Friday’s matches begin at 3 and 5 p.m. while Saturday’s action begins at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
