The Lady Braves won their fifth game of the season with a 2-0 shutout of Evanston on the home field last night.  Also, read on for complete track results from Star Valley’s foray into the Green River Invitational last weekend.

After a scoreless ten minutes into the match, the Lady Braves capitalized on a corner kick as junior Alisa Gimlin hooked one past Wendy Davis to give Star Valley a 1-0 lead.  For the next 70 minutes, the Lady Braves continued to pile up shots on goal, but fortune and skill kept the scoreboard close.

In a match which saw virtually the entire length played under a 1-0 result, the match itself was really never in doubt as Star Valley compiled a whopping 30 shots on goal compared to just 3 for Evanston.  Davis collected 12 saves, including a handful that had fans in attendance already cheering until proof was provided that they had been denied.

To put a bit of icing on an otherwise close outcome, Gimlin assisted Kelsey Diedrich who scored in the 80th minute for the 2-0 final.

Becca Sangster, who played the match with a partial cast on her right hand, had three saves in the victory.

The match was played at 3 p.m. with the junior varsity following.  The JV had their way with their Red Devil counterparts as well, winning handily, 5-0.

As for the Braves, they fell behind 2-0 early before storming back in the second half to tie the match at 2-2 on a pair of Skyler Heiner goals.  Evanston won the match on their third goal late in the contest for the 3-2 victory.
