Citizens of Star Valley celebrated Pioneer Days five years ago by recreating a handcart trek25-years ago:

50-years ago:

(photo) Melvin Thurman is very much impressed with the vigorous growth on the Hairy Vetch he planted a year ago. Mel says he thinks this forage has great possibilities here in Star Valley. He noticed the following advantage: (1) It matures early; (2) Good production while alfalfa is getting a good start: (3) Low in seeding costs; (4) High in protein; (5) It is a cool weather plant ;(6) Drought resistant; (7) Very palatable. 75-years ago:

Jensen Family will reunion in Str Valley next year–The Jensen family, descendants of Ollie A. Jensen, a pioneer of Mendon, Utah, in 1847, met at Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, last Saturday in annual reunion, 115 descendants being present. Almie L. Jensen of Haton, eldest, born July 4, 1964, permanent president of the family organization, gave the genealogical report. W.J. Jensen of Fish Haven, second son , is vice president, and Susie Shumway of Fairview, Wyo., is secretary. It was voted to hold the 1935 reunion in Star Valley.

100-years ago:

Ad: A man with $550 could not invest it to better advantage than by purchasing the Independent plant, which is for sale. Under good management it would pay for itself in a year, besides paying a fair wage.

Ad: Buy your Soda Crackers in quantity and save money. A 5 lb. box for $.50 at Billings Bazaar. Wanted: A team to haul freight from Montpelier, apply Billings Bazaar.

For Sale: House and Lot. Pleasantly situated on the South West Corner of the Public Square. House is a fine roomy structure, heated throughout with Hot-air system.
