The Afton Parent-Teachers Association are happy to announce that kindergarten will begin Monday, July 16, in the Seminary class room (building North of the high school.) Five days a week from nine to twelve o’clock Mrs. Elmina Papworth will be the teacher. The kindergartens field of usefulness is so well known that no description need be given here. We earnestly ask the mothers of children 4 to 6 years of age to have them attend the five week kindergarten. The fee will be seventy five cents a week for each child, or less according to the number of children enrolled.

Etna news: We had a very nice 4th of July celebration. The grove was an ideal place for program and picnic, and near it was a good place for races and other sports. Many said it was the best 4th they had ever had.
(more Etna news:) We remember reading about the bear at Smoot and the wonderful elk at Thayne, but Etna is not far behind. We have a sitting Tom cat. He has not yet proven himself a good mother to little chickens but he seems to be a faithful sitter. He has chosen a nest in the straw-stack and carefully warms the eggs the friendly hens lay.
Smoot news: We celebrated the 4th on Saturday the 3rd, and to say the least, we had a glorious day, and much credit is due all the committees which put forth every effort to make the day a success. Special prize is due the refreshment committee for everything that is good was there in abundance, and which was free to everyone present.
