Road Closures near Cokeville this week
By News Release on Aug 18, 2009 in News
The Kemmerer Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest has scheduled some temporary road closures for maintenance beginning next week. The improved roads should be opened for public use before the busy Labor Day holiday weekend.
Forest Road 1062, located 21-miles northeast of Cokeville, Wyoming, will be closed on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 approximately half of a mile south of the Kelly Guard Station. A culvert will be replaced in the roadway and the road will be closed to the public for the day until the installation is completed.
Additionally, Forest Road 10138, which is located 1-mile south of the Tri Basin Divide, will be closed for the week of August 24, 2009 for bridge replacement. The previous bridge was inadequate and frequently washed out due to flooding. “Replacing the existing bridge with a new one will improve the public’s access to that portion of the District as well as reduce our maintenance costs in the future,” said Natural Resource Manager Josh Sorenson. The project is scheduled to be completed and the road reopened before the end of the month.
Recreationists will be able to enjoy the Kemmerer Ranger District on the many other routes and trails that the Forest offers throughout the scheduled maintenance projects. Visitors can contact the District at 307-877-4415 for more information or questions about recreational activities.
