Basketball teams lose Flaming Gorge openers

Both the SVHS teams led at the half, but neither could collect the win as they fell to Cheyenne Central and Gillette to open up the 15th annual Flaming Gorge Classic.

The Braves led 28-26 at the break but then fell victim to a rash of turnovers with the Cheyenne Central Indians converted into 18 fast break points in the second half alone as they pulled away for a 59-43 victory.  The loss dropped the Braves to 2-3 on the year.  Brandon Taylor led the way with 17 points

The Lady Braves showed they could play with anyone as they led for the majority of their game with the defending state champion Lady Camels before falling in the final minute, 48-44.  Sophomore Britney Titensor led the Lady Braves with 12 points in a very gritty effort for the gals in gold.

The Braves face off against the Salmon, Idaho Savages on Friday while the ladies will battle Rich County, Utah.
