Silver Star accepting scholarship applications

As an OPASTCO Telephone Company Member, Silver Star Communications is eligible to submit scholarship applications from students in Silver Star’s service area to the Foundation for Rural Education and Development (FRED).
OPASTCO is a trade association for small independent telephone companies in the United States and Canada. Next year, the foundations will award at least $70,000 in scholarships to students from rural America.
Each year, the Foundation for Rural Education and Development awards scholarships to rural America’s best and brightest students. Scholarships range from $1,000 to $5,000 and are funded by the foundation’s Scholarship Endowment and by donations to the foundation’s annual campaign.
High school seniors graduating in 2010 who are interested in applying for the scholarship should download an informational brochure and application from http://www.fred.org.
Applications must be accompanied by a letter of support from Silver Star Communications.
Please submit completed applications to Silver Star Communications, PO Box 226, Freedom, WY 83120 to the attention of Nicole Astle by Wednesday, January 20.
