Governor Freudenthal taps former U.S. Attorney as legal counsel

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Gov. Dave Freudenthal has announced Kelly Rankin will serve as the Governor’s legal counsel.
Rankin is a Wyoming native and career prosecutor. His served as U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming until today. He earned both his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Wyoming.
“In his long career of public service, Kelly has developed a prosecutorial sense I appreciate. I look forward to receiving what is sure to be his unvarnished advice,” the Governor said.
Rankin said he is glad to be joining the Governor’s staff, adding, “I’m honored to serve in this position.”
Rankin replaces Kip Crofts, who recently left the Governor’s Office following his confirmation as U.S. Attorney for the District of Wyoming
