Everett Dee Peterson was born July 9, 1929 in Ovid (Bear Lake), Idaho, to Mildred M. Brooks and Wilford H. Peterson. Everett, better known as “Dick” by most of his family and friends, grew up in Cokeville and lived a big part of his life there before moving to Star Valley. It was in Cokeville with his Big Park Camp that Dick began his lifelong business as an outfitter. Dick was one of six that organized the Wyoming Outfitters Association in 1955. Up until his death, he was the last living charter member of the association. During Dick’s 55 years of outfitting, he owned and operated numerous hunting and fishing camps, pack trips and a wagon trail. Atop a horse, he covered most of the country from Cokeville to the Bridger-Teton Wilderness. While in the outfitting business, and for generations to come, Dick was and is known as one of the most respected outfitters, not only in the great State of Wyoming, but country wide. Comments were always made on his honesty, integrity and trust in all that he did. Dick met and fell in love with Leah Beth Bagley. They were married Nov. 17, 1950 and together they started their family in Cokeville. Their first little girl was Marcene, who was followed by Jerrilyn, Billy Dee and Cheryl. The outfitting business allowed them to spend countless hours together in the outdoors. Dick, Beth and their children were sealed as a family on Aug. 10, 1973 in the Ogden, Utah LDS Temple. After 25 years of marriage and many lasting memories, Dick lost his eternal companion on Feb. 22, 1976. On June 9, 1976 married Patricia Lund Fritz. The merge of their two families invited Pat’s three children, Greg, Danny and Jody, into Dick’s life. Dick and Pat enjoyed 34 happy years together, creating many memories of their own. On Jan. 5, 2010, Everett “Dick” Peterson returned home to our Heavenly Father and countless others that waited with open arms to greet him.
