Explosion rocks the community of Star Valley Ranch

An explosion that occurred at approximately 12:30 this morning completely destroyed a home at the north end of Star Valley Ranch.
According to Thayne Fire Chief, Dale Turner, the Thayne Fire Department responded to a report of an explosion at 365 Choke Cherry Drive.
When the firefighters arrived, they found the home had been reduced to debris by an explosion and the remaining pieces in the basement were engulfed in flames.
The explosion blew out windows and pulled siding off of neighboring homes as far as 200 yards away but no injuries have been reported.
The owners of the home had been out of town attending a family function.
Turner has asked that the public refrain from approaching the area due to a large amount of debris lodged high in the surrounding tree tops and other potentially dangerous situations.
Although propane is the suspected cause, the incident is still under investigation and awaiting word from the Wyoming State Fire Marshall.

  1. My family lives almost 400 yards away and he told me we had windows blown out, im just glad no one was hurt

  2. This is very frightening considering it is the second house explosion with propane involved in less than a year. Something needs to be done to make home owners with propane feel safe.

  3. We recently purchased the Taylor residence, on the small golf course, in Star Valley RV Resort, that had also exploded, due to defective propane lines. I think everyone up there should not take for granted that their homes are safe, but should request that the propane company tests their lines. What a blessing that the Groves were out of town. They are in our prayers. Thank you!

  4. We live just a few streets away. Over 12 homes were affected by the blast, some with unrepariable damage. Spoke to some friends of the family today, who were out picking up some personal items at the site. They said the family is doing ok and the insurance company is already helping.
