Lady Braves bounce back to elminate Evanston

Shae Wilkes scored 14 and pulled down seven rebounds as Star Valley advanced to the Consolation Championship against Natrona.

The Lady Braves never trailed in a 41-27 victory over Evanston on Friday morning.  It was the third time this season that Star Valley defeated their foes from Uinta County.

In addition to Wilkes, Britney Titensor had eight points as the Lady Braves outrebounded Evanston 45-38.  Randi Robinson had nine rebounds, Kelsea Gardner had eight and Kassie Woodie had seven.

Both team struggled from the free throw line, but Evanston never found the range as went 1-19 from behind the three point line.

The win was the 13th of the season for the Lady Braves who will be trying to earn some hardware Saturday morning.

As for the Braves, after leading in the first quarter, they fell behind Laramie and they were never able to recover as they were eliminated 57-45 at the State Tournament.  Josh Hunsaker had 11 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots in the loss which signaled the end of a career for a number of seniors: Brandon Taylor, David Cranford, James Bowers, Elio Merino, Kory Ingersoll and Brock Gardner will graduate as the team who first earned a ticket to the 4A State Tournament.
