Increased flows at Jackson Lake and Palisades

The Bureau of Reclamation will be increasing the water flows from Jackson Lake and the Palisades Reservoir this week. The bureau reports that Jackson Lake flows will increase from 8,000 cubic feet per second to 10,000 cfs. Palisades will increase from 10,000 cubic feet per second to 11,000 cfs. Jackson Lake Dam is over 98 percent full and taking in more than 16,000 cfs due to recent rains combined with spring snow melt. The bureau advises, “Residents along the Snake River below Jackson Lake Dam should be alert for localized flooding downstream and at the Palisades Dam the Snake River will approach bank-full conditions.” Boaters, anglers and other river recreationists are advised to anticipate higher flows.
