Afton offering many large items in surplus sale

The Town of Afton will be holding a surplus auction during the first week of November.  The aim of the sale is to move some large and bulky items out of the town storage areas that are no longer utilized as they once were.  “We are trying to get rid of some things that just don’t fit in anymore and would still have some great use left for somebody here in the community,” stated Quinn Sessions, Director of Public Works for the Town of Afton.  “There are some large items and some smaller ones and we encourage people to come and take a look.”

On the large side, some of the items include a 1983 GMC Top Kick which includes a dump box and reversible plow. This item has a minimum bid of $5,000. A 1990 Deutz-Allis tractor will likely go for less with a minimum bid of $1,000.

Other items include a lawn tractor, a SullAir compressor, a storage building and many items for care and maintenance of large areas of lawn.

While some of these items will have a minimum bid, many will not which includes a large number of chairs, desks and tables.

Prospective buyers may inspect the items on November 4 & 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. by making an appointment with Sessions at the Afton Town Hall.  All bids must be receive no later than November 8, at 5 p.m.

Bids will be opened at 5:30 p.m. on November 9, at the regular town council meeting.
