As an All-American at BYU and an Olympic Decathlete, Dave Draney personified excellence in Track & Field.  As an educator, coach and mentor for Star Valley High School, his efforts inspired many.  His battle with cancer eventually took Dave, but his legacy of looking for others first and caring for their needs even during his own struggles drew an entire community together.  With his name on the Star Valley Track & Field invitational, the Crimson & Gold did him proud with a pair of team titles in Afton on Wednesday.

Despite temperatures that never really seemed to hover above 40 and deep patches of packed snow still around portions of the track, athletes from 11 schools performed for the Star Valley crowd.

The Braves ran away with the team title, with 209 points, buoyed by strong performances in the distance events and the relays.  Green River placed second with 91 points while Evanston placed third with 80.  The Lady Braves pulled away from second place Soda Springs with 161 points.  Green River and Evanston finished third and fourth respectively with 91 and 80 points.

After a span of three years in which the Draney Invite did not take place due to a lack of facilities, this is the second consecutive year of having the event back on the map.
