LCSD#2 considering boundary change for trustee areas

One of items discussed by the board of trustees for LCSD #2 last Thursday was the consideration of redrawing trustee boundaries for representation. According to Amanda Welch at the district office, the process is ongoing. “Originally, the GPS coordinator drew a map based on guidelines which are stated in state statute,” she said. “If we elect to have trustee areas, which we do, there cannot be more than a ten percent deviation between those areas. We had one map drawn which had Alan [Linford] and Mike [Hunsaker in the same area. Because they are both currently board members, it was perceived it could be come an issue.”
Due to this issue, maps have been redrawn but still adhere to the legal limits set forth by the state.
Discussion was made as to whether or not there should be more than one option or to simply move forward with the existing option. While there was some dissenting votes, the board decided to have multiple options which will be considered in the future.
