Thayne Community Center moving forward

Bid packages on the Thayne Community Center project are being assembled and prepared this week. According to Mayor Bob King, certain portions of the project could be ready for bids “as early as next week.” “They are not ready yet,” he said. “But we hope to have them ready by next week and certainly before December is over.” According to King, the “scope of the work will be broken up into different phases and contracts.”
“For example we might have windows and electrical and fire protection,” he said. “We hope to get more people involved that way and hopefully have local contractors bid on different portions of the building.”
The Thayne Community Center budget is $1.5 million. The funding for the project is a combination of grants from the Wyoming Business Council, stimulus funding and an ADA grant.
“We are also working with Lower Valley Energy on energy efficiency,” said King.
According to King, project completion plans call for focusing efforts on the library portion of the building as well as the child development center area and the section of the building Lincoln Self Reliance will use.
“We are going to finish those areas first and then complete the work on the rest of the community center,” said King. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by December 2012.
“We think we can get the building finished before that time,” said King. For more information on the Thayne Community Center Project, contact the Town of Thayne at 883=2668.
