Thayne acquires new patrol car

The Town of Thayne has acquired a police sedan for the Thayne Police Department. The vehicle was purchased from the Wyoming Highway Patrol for $3,000.  “It has high miles but it was a lieutenant’s car and so it wasn’t run up and down the freeway or anything like that,” said Mayor Bob King. “The town has been looking for a patrol car and this vehicle is basically outfitted to do what we want it to do.”  According to King, the town will install a new radio and light bar as well as a cage. The equipment will be installed in the town’s patrol car this month.
“With the cage we will be able to transport someone if we need to, rather than have them riding alongside our officers,” said King. “It will also be more economical to have a sedan in use rather than our pick-up truck. The truck is expensive to run. It will be used primarily as our back-up vehicle or in instances when we need two police vehicles.”
