SVHS basketball teams sweep weekend competition

Both the Braves and Lady Braves collected a pair of conference wins on their home court over the weekend. With the wins, the Lady Braves moved to 9-2 on the season and the Braves improved to 7-3.
Vs Lander
On Friday evening, the ladies answered some quick shooting from Lander to lead by six after the first period. They were gradually able to increase the lead each quarter in a 58-41 victory. Hailey Greenwood had a game-high 18 points to go along with six rebounds and five assists. Lexi Erickson collected her third double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Erickson also had five assists. Eight different players made it into the scoring column.
As for the Braves, they trailed by a single point after the first quarter thanks to a 30-foot three-point basket from Lander’s Austin Roberts. From that point, the home team outscored the previously undefeated Tigers 36-19 in a 50-34 victory. Three different players led the way with double figures in the scoring column, led by Dalton Passey’s 11. Ridge Hillyard and Tyler Ealey each had ten. A whopping 11 players scored points for the Crimson & Gold. Tanner Simpson had a game-high 12 points for Lander.
Vs Pinedale
After an intense game the previous evening, the Lady Braves were forced into a ragged game by the visiting Pinedale Lady Wranglers. Ultimately it was a big second quarter that put Star Valley up for good in a 54-34 victory. The ladies outscored their counterparts 23-7 in the second stanza. Christy Clinger led the way with a game-high 13 points behind a trio of three-point baskets. Greenwood finished with 11 points and Ashley Hall scored ten. The Lady Wranglers were led by Ally Perry who finished with 12 points, while Erin Egle pulled down 11 rebounds.
The Braves finished off a perfect weekend in an odd and physical game with the Wranglers, 52-19. Wyatt Shinaver led the team in scoring with 14 points along with eight rebounds. Passey added 12 points and set the defensive tone as the Braves allowed a total of 53 points all weekend. Ten different players scored in the win while the Wranglers were led by Kyle Bright who finished with nine points.
The Braves host the Evanston Red Devils next Friday in the second half of the season series for the two teams.
