Snowshoe Hollow decision to come this week

For the last few years the Town of Afton has struggled to find area organizations willing to run Snowshoe Hollow, the small sledding hill located at the eastern end of Fourth Avenue. However, this year the town has received a favorable number of proposals to manage the snow hill, Mayor Loni Hillyard said.
“We have ordered a new rope and some work has been done on the pulley system so things should work very well up there this year,” said Hillyard. “Parents and families can expect the hill to be open this winter.”
According to Hillyard, this week the Town of Afton will review the different proposals to manage the sledding hill. Once the applications have been reviewed, a decision will be announced by the town, she said. We appreciate the response we have had this year,” said Hillyard. “The hill is important for the youth of our community. It’s tradition to have it up and running. It’s a fun outdoor activity. Even when we have struggled to find someone willing to run the hill parents have come forward willing to help keep it open. We appreciate that.”
