Star Valley sweeps Lander in return to conference play

The Lady Braves led for virtually the entire game in a 57-36 victory and the Braves used a big third quarter to claim a 54-39 win over the Tigers as both SVHS teams improved to (6-3) overall.
The Lady Braves were lifted by 20 first half points from senior Lexi Erickson who finished with 23 overall and nine rebounds. Cortland Jenkins also hit double figures with ten points and Shay Schwab chipped in nine. Star Valley hosts Pinedale on Saturday afternoon. Shanda Post led the Lady Tigers with 12 points. Cherikie Tillman had ten points and eight rebounds.
The Braves trailed early, 8-1 and 16-10 after the first period but battled back to take a 28-22 halftime lead. However, it wasn’t until a 7-0 run to close the third quarter that Star Valley pulled away for a 41-26 advantage. Wyatt Shinaver and Dalton Passey each finished with 17 points. Kohl Battleson had nine points, six steals and five assists. Lucas Watkins led the Tigers with 12 points while Casey Winger had 11. The Braves host Pinedale on Saturday evening and former assistant coach Jeremy Qualls.
