There are a lot of things to appreciate about Spring Break.  Shorthanded teams aren’t one of them.

If discussions at the March meetings are any indicator, one can expect more changes to be afoot beginning in the 2009-2010 school year. The latest proposal that is building momentum would add Cody and Jackson to the 4A fold.

After building what looked like an insurmountable lead in the first day and a half, the Braves saw the power of the Natrona Mustangs as they closed to within 12 points before three wins in their final four matches gave Star Valley the 4A West Regional Crown.

Teams from Natrona, Evanston, Rock Springs, Kelly Walsh and Green River will join the Braves on their home mat as the six squads vie for their own chunk of the state tournament spots in Casper next week.

Despite waiting a few extra days to make the trip, the Kelly Walsh Trojans looked anything but bored and fatigued from the drive. Joe Munsell dropped a season-high 26 points while Cobi Eskew scored 19 in a 67-51 Trojan victory.

If the state tournament is anything like the Ron Thon, then spectators and athletes will have a very interesting weekend.

Despite bitter and blowing snow outside, the Evanston Red Devils and Lady Devils heated up the hardwood and came away with a pair of victories in the process.

Carolee Saunders notched 13 points and five steals to pace the Lady Braves to a 40-37 win over visiting Green River Saturday night.

Rock Springs came into the SVHS gym on Friday night and completed the varsity sweep of both the Braves and the Lady Braves in 4A West Conference action.
