In a unanimous vote, the Lincoln County Planning Commission has voted against recommending a grass airstrip on the Double L Ranch just north of Etna. The decision was made Wednesday, July 23 at the regular county planning and zoning meeting.

Grand Teton National Park rangers continue to investigate the death of longtime Exum Mountain Guides employee George Gardner, age 58, that occurred on Saturday, July 19. Fellow guides, who were with Gardner before the accident that took his life, have provided rangers with extensive information about the circumstances leading up to his untimely death.

A decision issued Friday, July 18 in federal court will have significant impacts on the way wolves are managed in Wyoming. Judge Donald Molloy issued an injunction to suspend the removal of wolves in the northern Rocky Mountains from the federal Endangered Species List.

In a move from the Third District Court  and Judge Jere Ryckman, approximately 30 acres of property in the south portion of Afton was transferred from the Bradley D. Morehouse Estate to the Town of Afton.

Although Yellowstone National Park is a huge tourist destination every season, road construction in between Grand Teton National Park and the nation’s oldest treasure may put a dent in guests’ summer plans.

Alpine, Thayne, Star Valley Ranch and Afton all celebrated the weekend of July 4, in various ways, but a parade was the common thread that connected them all.

While the title may say Afton, indeed the first six members of the Afton Heritage Committee’s Hall of Fame did much more than simply stay in Afton.  They founded the very basis for life in Star Valley and went a long way towards determining the stability of this area.

A 12-year-old Pennsylvania boy was flipped in the air by a bison near the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone Friday morning. A mature bull bison, apparently annoyed at the close proximity of the boy, tossed him approximately 10 feet in the air.
