There’s not a parent that lives in Star Valley that doesn’t realize exactly how big and spread out the residents of the Cowboy state are settled.

The filing period for candidates interested in serving on either the Lincoln County School District No. 2 Board of Trustees or the North Lincoln County Hospital District Board of Trustees came to a close on Monday, Aug. 23. Candidate names for both boards were released this week.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4797 is seeking participants for the annual Patriots Pen and Voice of Democracy programs. The programs are open to all area youth.

The Lincoln County Weed & Pest is hoping that Star Valley, especially residents on the north end, will visit their office and get down and dirty in the battle against Spotted Knapweed.

The recent graduation of students in LCSD #2 included Star Valley High School, Swift Creek High School and Cokeville High School.

Having a passion for the game, working hard and getting an early start.  All three are items that will be emphasized along with blocking, throwing, ball protection and route running at the annual Star Valley Braves football youth skill camp beginning  on Tuesday, June 1, of next week.

The Star Valley Historical Society will host a presentation on Mongolia on Thursday, May 13, 2010.

Alpine’s Zachery Dubisz recently won the Wyoming Geography Bee.

The School Board for LCSD #2 approved a new math teacher who will also serve as Star Valley’s new head basketball coach.  Tony Saras will take over a team that earned a state tournament birth last season and will return three players with significant varsity experience.
