Star Valley had three individual champions en route to the program’s ninth regional championship in the last ten seasons.

After one day of regional action, it’s Star Valley leading the way at Natrona County High School.

The Star Valley senior wrestlers closed out their careers with a bang on Wednesday evening in a one-sided defeat over visiting Rock Springs.

The Star Valley basketball squads both won against visiting Green River.  The win gave the Lady Braves a weekend split while the Braves swept their Sweetwater County opponents over the weekend.

Rock Springs came in at 12-4 on the season and the second highest scoring team in class 4A.  While the Tigers hit their scoring average, the Braves were able to ride a fourth quarter run to a victory.

While the win over the Evanston Lady Red Devils last week helped the Lady Braves move past last year’s win total, their current status is still far from where they want to end the season.

It’s been called a Wyoming all-class state tournament.  While the Ron Thon Memorial won’t be giving out any state championship trophies, it will give the wrestlers from around the state a chance to gauge where they are as the season hits the stretch run.

After Saturday’s action, the Star Valley Braves wrestlers have left a trail of defeated opponents behind them, knocking off Green River, Natrona County and Riverton in a four day span.

The Lady Braves moved to 2-1 in conference play with a 51-36 victory over Evanston while the Braves wrestlers made a statement with a 60-7 drubbing of Natrona in Casper.

Green River and Star Valley are two teams with championship aspirations for next month.  On this night the Braves came out on top by the slimmest of margins in a classic evening, 31-30.
