The only team that beat the Lady Braves so far this weekend  is who Star Valley faced in the finals as the Alta Hawks of Sandy, Utah, had to face the Crimson & Gold again.

If the opening day is any indication, there should be some good times coming this fall for the Star Valley fall sports teams.

After competing in one of the toughest conference slates in recent memory, the Lady Braves appear to be returning a strong group to the 4A West where three of the top four teams played in 2009.

Approximately 80 players took to the fields surrounding Braves Field in hopes of returning Star Valley back to the top of the football pile where they have been straining to get since 1996.

Yesterday was one of those days becoming all too frequent in the landscape of college football when out of no where, a dust storm settles in and clouds the future.

Those of us who live in the footprint of the Utah sports media, playfully referred to as the Zion Curtain, have always heard the reoccurring notion that the BYU Cougars could consider the idea of becoming a football independent.

Three hours of bull riding action and other related “bull” events entertained a full house on Saturday evening at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds, with one of the event favorites overcoming several injuries to win the 2010 Superbull championship and the majority of the $18,000 purse.

Ending five days of speculation in what has been the most whirlwind June college football has seen in 20 years, the Mountain West has officially invited the Boise State Broncos with BSU set to join the league on July 1, 2011.

The nine presidents of the Mountain West have opted to not extend an invitation to Boise State.  At least for now.
