The Lady Braves caused some extra drama, but they were still able to hold on for an amazing 3-2 victory over Evanston for their first conference win of the year. Star Valley had match point in the third game, but an Evanston rally forced the action all the way to game five before the Lady Braves could put the nail in the coffin.
The Lady Braves won game one, 25-20, and had to check their mental toughness in game two by holding on for the 30-28 victory
Star Valley had match point at 24-23 by the Lady Devils weren’t ready to go down quietly in three. A furious handful of rallies had the final score in Evanston’s favor, 29-27.
The Devils and Braves traded points for much of the fourth game before Evanston claimed the win, 25-21.
Game five saw Star Valley take the lead for the first time out of the gate, 4-0, although the visitors came screaming back to a 9-7 lead. After tying the game at 9 points apiece, the two teams were knotted up at 11, 13 and 15 before Star Valley was able to claim the match victory, 17-15.
On the gridiron, the Braves weren’t nearly so lucky as they were held out of the endzone in a 19-0 loss to the Red Devils to fall to (1-6) on the season. The loss all but eliminates Star Valley from post-season consideration.
The Braves wrap up their season next week at home with a Western Conference clash with the Worland Warriors.
