Thursday’s rain in the area slows down the Fontenelle Fire on the Bridger-Tetons but it did little to stop the overall fire danger. Officials have stated that as of Friday morning, the fire has consumed more than 57,000 acres since it started on June 24. More than 800 people are still involved in fighting the blaze which was reported at 25 percent containment as of Friday morning. The area received nearly .20 inches of rain but authorities have stated that this was not a significant enough amount to counteract the dry fuel in the area although they believe it did help the crews make significant inroads on the northern portion of the fire. Hot conditions with temperatures pushing the 90 degree mark coming up over the weekend and into the beginning portion of next week is also a cause of concern according to fire officials.
